arrow  Chairman - Derek Jones

Derek has worked in sales and management within the IT channel for over 20 years, holding various roles. From independent owner dealer, corporate director, small companies to large corporations, the consistent factor in Derek's career has been the results achieved.

A passion for helping others achieve the same success led to Derek developing Computer Office Group (now a trading division of Integra Office Solutions) and 6 years ago, becoming a director of the Professional Computing Association.

After two years as the PCA's Financial Director, Derek was appointed Chairman of the Association in November 2005.

Derek's enthusiasm and passion for the ICT industry and channel will drive the PCA for the foreseeable future.

Responsibilities
  • Main area of responsibility - Planning
  • Elected director of the PCA, appointed Chairman by fellow directors.
  • Development of business plans and strategies for future growth.
  • Continuous review of company performance
  • Management and co-ordination of the elected team of directors to meet PCA goals and objectives.
  • Represent the PCA at the highest level within the ICT industry.
  • Chair board meetings.

  • arrow  Chief Executive Officer - Keith Warburton

    Keith Warburton has a 20+ year record of success in the IT industry. Previous roles have included high-performance storage sub-system system sales on super-mini computers, national and international sales manager for a hard drive manufacturer, national sales manager with a large OEM computer company, and national sales & marketing manager for a leading motherboard vendor. All this followed an initial sales career in the design office technology sector.

    Latterly Keith has run his own consultancy, with clients including international vendors as well as national computer manufacturers.

    Keith founded the Association in 1993 and has operated as the Chief Executive Officer since that time, piloting its development into the leading non-profit trade association covering the UK channel and marketplace.

  • Main area of responsibility – PCA representation within the operational arena.
  • Appointed by the board of directors to manage the business.
  • Responsible for all day to day activities within the PCA.
  • Work closely with the Chairman & Board to implement business strategy and vision.
  • Work closely with elected directors on various specific tasks.
  • Maintain the professionalism of the Association.

  • arrow  Finance Director - John Harris

    John has an extensive management and business background within the public and private sector and as an entrepreneur is well qualified to fulfil the important role of Finance Director to the Association. He has held senior positions within the Banking sector as well as having been a director and shareholder of a major finance company. As a result of building a successful company and selling out to Thames Water PLC he held a Board position with them for six years as a director of their non-core business division.

    John has been with Aria Technology Ltd. for the past four

    years and so has a considerable understanding of the IT industry and the various issues that currently concern all those within the membership of PCA and now provides Business Management and Franchise advice to new and developing companies.

    His education and training includes a period at the IMD Business Institute in Lausanne, one of the leading international business schools, studying Strategic Planning and Change Management. His business strengths and experience are invaluable at this important time in the development of the Association. Key responsibilities the financial management and control required to ensure that the resources are available to enable the successful expansion of the PCA working alongside the rest of the management team.

    Responsibilities:
  • Main area of responsibility – Finance.
  • Elected director of the PCA.
  • Overall responsibility for the finance functions including the role of company secretary.
  • In conjunction with the executive director, plan and implement workable and achievable annual budgets.
  • Advise the board on PCA financial planning issues.

  • arrow  Commercial Director-Robert French

    Robert has operated a number of various multi million pound IT Solution companies as a Director and majority shareholder,building structured businesses before selling and moving to the next.Robert’s skills are varied in all aspects of business with an eye for reality, and focus on uncomplicated success. Worked within the IT channel for over 20 years and brings a wealth of commercial experience.Currently majority shareholder and director of a trade channel ISP, Talk Internet Ltd.After one year as the PCA IT Director, Robert was appointed Commercial Director of the Association in November 2007 working closely with the PCA Chairman.Robert's commercial skills within ICT industry and channel will help future restructuring and development of the association. His specific areas of respomnsibility include 

    • Overall commercial aspects of the association
    • Assist with development of future business strategy
    • Plan and implement recruitment strategy to deliver membership in line with policy objectives and vision

  • arrow  PCA Director - Laurie Beagle

    Laurie has held a number of positions including UK Credit Operations & Development Manager at Digital Equipment, Industry Group Manager at Graydon UK Ltd, Operations Manager in the Computer & Communications Market Intelligence Centre at Dun & Bradstreet, run his own credit consultancy firm and latterly Senior Manager at PwC. He joined P&A in March 2004.

    He has a background in credit management, is an accomplished consultant with experience in process strategy and development as well as a trainer and lecturer on fraud in the UK & Europe.

    His prime focus is the IT and Telecoms sectors and is a Fellow of the Institute of Credit Management The Association of Credit Professionals and now a Director of the PCA.

    He is also an associate member of the Association of Certified Fraud Examiners and the International Pen & Sword Association.

    He chairs the Computer Manufacturers Industry Group, which he formed in 1991, as well as the EMEA Credit Forum for vendors and distributors. He also runs the SAP User group, Senior Management Forum and the Fraud Prevention Network in the UK and Europe. He is currently working on a new forum for the Unified Communications sector.

    At P&A his position is to manage the existing Forum base, as well as the Fraud Prevention and Investigations Divisions. He also focuses on supporting clients and forum members by providing solutions to current and future business challenges.


    arrow  PCA Director - Bob Lewis

    Bob Lewis has worked in the IT industry for over 25 years.Service Manager and then Sales Manager, at CASU until 1989 leaving to start CFL Computer Systems a manufacturer and services company supplying Servers, PC’s and peripherals into the Public Sector Market. Bob ran CFL until 2005 when it was taken over by Centerprise International where he was in charge of the Centerprise Wales Public Sector Sales Division. He has now set up his own consultancy company  within the IT sector

    Bob has been a member of the PCA for 10 years serving as an elected director for 3 years and Chairman for 3 years and now as a Co-opted Director. Bob’s knowledge of the industry and also the PCA allows him to advise the Elected Directors and assist them in their decision-making.

    arrow  Media Consultant - Simon Meredith

    Simon Meredith is one of the most respected and experienced IT industry journalists in the UK. He worked on the launch of PC Dealer – the UK’s first business-focused IT paper – in 1986, and edited the title for the next three years. Today Simon works as a freelance IT industry journalist and media consultant. He has contributed to a great number of business and computing titles and continued to work closely with successive editors and with VNU's senior management on the development of its channel titles.

    He continues to work closely CRN, which was merged with PC Dealer in 1999, chairing the CRN Reseller Board and
    providing advice and support for the prestigious UK Channel Awards.

    Through Meredith Media Services, Simon also undertakes various projects for IT industry companies and works as a media and industry consultant. All of these roles bring him into close and regular contact with leading IT industry vendors, distributors, resellers, media people and journalists.

    Within the PCA, Simon’s role is to act as an advisor to the board on messaging and communications and on relations between the trade media relations and Association.
